Question Hour!
"O taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psa 34:8)
There are several questions people ask about salvation from sin by Christ. If someone says that he will get saved only after all his questions are answered satisfactorily, it is very likely that he will never get saved. Mere intellectual knowledge never saved anyone. Is it not foolishness if someone refuses to use electricity until he understands all about electricity? However here are the direct answers from the Bible for some of the commonest questions and excuses—
I am religious enough; is it not enough?
"Unless you are converted and become as little children you will by no means enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Mt 18:3)
Is it not enough if I harm nobody but always do good to others?
"You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts" (Lk 16:15)
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not is us" (1 Jn 1:8)
Will a God of love send anyone to eternal hell?
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate...that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it" (Mt 7:13)
Is it not better to be like me than those who claim a salvation experience but play hypocrisy?
"In accordance with your hardness and your impatient heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath...of God, who will render each one according to his deeds...God will judge the secrets of men" (Rom 2:5,6,11,16)
Is Christian life so easy? There are many people I cannot forgive and habits I cannot forsake!
Jesus says, "Come to Me all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. take My yoke upon you and learn from Me. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Mt 11:28-30)
Will not God save me when He desires?
"Now is the day of Salvation" (2 Cor 6:1,2)
Jesus is tenderly calling thee home—calling today, calling today!
Why from the sunshine of love wilt thou roam, farther and farther away?
Jesus is waiting, oh, come to Him now—waiting today, waiting today!
Come with thy sins, at His feet lowly bow; come, and no longer dalay!
(Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915)
