Jesus and the fig tree

Whenever I read Mark 11 my focus had always been on Jesus speaking about the importance of belief and faith in action (verse 22 to verse 24). But, while reading that chapter today my attention was drawn towards verse 12 to verse 14.
12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.”
I was surprised to see Jesus getting angry not just that but, he cursed the fig tree which is quite unusual of Him. The big question I had in my mind was - why will Jesus curse that fig tree knowing that it was not the season for figs. The only thing that came in my mind was that fig tree had leaves and it was deceptive but cudnt quite connect the two. gotquestions.org set the context for me by explaining the characteristics of the fig tree. The fruit of the fig tree generally appears before the leaves, and, because the fruit is green it blends in with the leaves right up until it is almost ripe. Also based on the location and weather the trees can produce early fruits as well. These two might have given the notion to Jesus Christ and His disciples that there would be fruits but no it was deceptive. So, what does this mean to us as individual Christians or as a Church. To me I felt that until we have a personal relationship with God,build our lives on His words and spread His love though our words and deeds -  just maintaining a good attendance in Church, taking part in Church activities or performing Christian rituals is as deceptive as this fig tree. To the outside world we may appear to be a true Christian with all those lush leaves but when God comes in search of fruits will He find any ??? Same applies to Churches and private ministries as well, you are not owning nor running Corporate companies to brag about the growth of the congregation nor the revenue aspects rather you are here to depict that type of life which God taught you so that people will taste God's love and be drawn to Jesus Christ.
So what are these fruits ? Galatians 5 : 22-23 says  “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Love, Kindness, Goodness - Have we learnt to show selfless love towards others?
Joy - Why do we live in fear, anxiety, stress about things in life when we already know that Jesus is in control. Why is it difficult for a Christian to be joyful?
Peace - God promised us his Peace and will that not apply to all situations of our life?
Patience,Gentleness - Do we show patience and perseverance in our life situations and especially to our loved ones?
Faithfulness - Are we faithful to our God and do we have faith in him?
Self-control - Have we told No to ungodly things and stay away for Gods of this world ?
